2005 Dome light door switch

Does anybody know what controls the dome light in a 2005 ranger? I have looked around the door and thee is nothing visible. I was just wondering what controls it.

Thanks

Its inside the door latch mechanism. You'll have to pull the door panel to access it.

If you are having problems with the dome light staying on, it's a common problem with Fords. Try spraying some electrical contact cleaner (some people use WD-40) inside the door latch where the switch is located.

Just a thought, be sure the instrument pannel dim switch hasn't been pushed up & clicked into the "ON" position, as this will also keep the dome light on!!!!

Also check the " Misc." section at the bottom of the "Technical Thread" located at the top of this forums main page, for a link to more helpful info on the subject!!!!

Let us know how you do.

Andy, after re-reading your initial post, I realized you have a 05 Ranger & this puppy has a 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty that you just paid big bucks for, so if your having problems with the dome light staying on thats not operator error, I'd make this a Dealer/Ford problem & let them sort ths out!!!!

I am not going to be by the dealer for a few days. I just sprayed some contact cleaner in there and it is now working again. I do plan on stoping by the dealer in a few days to talk to them about it. I just needed to get the light off so I don't end up with a dead battery in the meantime.

Thank you all.

If you already solved them problem dont even go to the dealer. They will make you leave it there all day to let you knoe there was no problem found. If it does it again, just put up with it and take it to the dealer then.

I don't plan on leaving it there. I am just going to stop by and tell them and hopefully get it on record that it is happening for any future problems. As long as it works okay they won't get it!!

This is good information. The switch on the driver's door of my '03 did that a couple of times a few days after I bought it and then started working fine all by itself and hasn't acted up since. I bought the truck new, and I've always been suspicious of it. Possibly because I couldn't find the pushbutton either.

Try spraying some electrical contact cleaner (WD-40 will work) inside the door latch where the switch is located.
