I just replaced the plugs in my 99 Sable. The plugs listed for it were AGSF32FM. The ones that came out were AWSF32PG in the rear(toward the firewall) and AWSF32P in the front bank. Why two different plugs? Also, the front bank had a much larger gap, about .070, while the rear bank was only about .055. I know these were worn plugs but were they gaped different to start with or did they wear at a different rate? I went ahead and changed them because it was my only transportation at the time and it seems to run fine. I'm just curious. Thanks in advance for any info.
You can get a pretty good idea of the what the "FM" series plugs are about, and how they are different from the conventional double platinums ("DP") plugs, by reading through this:
I want to point out that most of the nuts and bolts information regarding the FM "fine wire" plug design set forth in the above is courtesy of Bob Ayers, our fellow FTE member, who is the person who actually went to SEMA and talked to the Motorcraft reps, and then followed up with their engineers, about the FM series plugs. I had quoted some of Bob's corrospendence (to me) about the subject over at another SHO-related site several months ago, and apparently the interest in the subject was so great that the people over at the V8SHO site thought it would be a good idea if the same information were passed along to the entire V8 SHO community! Fortunately, information that is good and credible has a tendency of getting around to these types of forums. Thanks again Bob!
As for the question regarding different part numbers of the original plugs, it's easier to just quote Bob from another thread wherein he answered the same question:

The reason why the elctrodes erode differently is due to the "waste spark" design of the Ford DIS/EDIS ignition systems.
