Let me preface this by saying I have read and searched and searched and read and I have yet to find an answer to this. I hope I don't get the standard "Look in the tech thread" answer, because I have.
When in 4th gear (L,1,2,3,4,OD) of the 6spd manual which is also the 5th forward gear and I set the cruise control for 70km/h (45 mph) the rpms read 1600. What happens is when the the speed needs to be maintained or increased, the engine sputters and sometime kicks the cruise off. If I have the cruise set for 80km/h, the revs are a bithigher and I don't have the sputter issue. If I have the cruise at 90km/h in OD, the revs are about thsame as 4 at 70km/h and it doesn't sputter.
Mine would buck and sputter black puffs going at 70mph, cruise on, going up a small grade. I changed my EBV twice, and this solved it both times. Then it came back, so I disconnected my EGR and it seemed to go away. Then I had the latest flash and EBV done at dealer under recall, but they connected my EGR again.
Now I'm EGR-less and no bucking. I don't have any idea of why this works, but it worked for me. And I searched too when it started and could only find a little info about it.
