2000 Expedition Speedometer Problem when in 4Low
Hi all, I have search high and low and have not found this problem.
I picked up a used 2000 Expy (Eddie Bauer, 5.4L, Auto) a few months ago. Within 3 days the transfer case went crazy. The short story is it would only operate in 4 Low. But when in 4 low the speedometer reads ~3x fast (if you are doing ~30KM/h it will read 90KM/h).
Took it to a dealer for diagnostics. Transfer case bad (no surprise), VSS bad,and some unrelated stuff.
Found a used transfer case and installed it. Left the VSS in the used case as it appeared my old ones were bad.
No it works in 4 high & Auto. Put into 4 low and the speedo is crazy. Also does not come out of 4 low without turning off the ignition.
In normal driving conditions the speedo is reading about 10% high.
I am getting ready to drop this thing off at the wreckers if I can't figure this out, anybody got any good advice?
