Just remember that it's going to sound different.

You may even hear Darth Vader speak to you! ;-)))

Also, be sure to pick up a standard-sized stainless, screw-type heater hose clamp to be straightened out and added to the existing clamp to lengthen it just a little.

Just a reminder here to make sure the intake ducting doesn't rub on the intercooler ducting... mine did at first when I did the 6637 on my early 99. It can rub through.

I just ordered my filter at napa

I just ordered my 6637 at Napa, and boy was it costly. Until he worked a deal with me and i got it for just a little over cost. I belive it was like 22.09. Otherwise, it would have been 50 or more. I will go with fleetfilter.com next time, and get all my filters in one shot!!

Yeah them Napa Crapa dealers sure do mark stuf up. They pay the same as fleet does. But you would think they have to make a house payment off every $2 item. LPR

I've been watching these threads for sometime, especially since I used to run the 6637.

If you want better than stock filtration and are on a tight budget, the 6637 is a fine mod, but don't expect any mpg gains.

If you have the cash, the Ford AIS with the fender mod, is "the" kit to get for even superior filtration AND better mpg (I got a solid 1 mpg vs the 6637 and vs the stocker box).

Black cloud diesel has a pretty good buy on the AIS (not the best, but the difference is made up by the service and install directions on their WS).

I went with the AIS even though it was more expensive, because my co-pilot hated the whoosh sound that the 6637 is known for.

i kinda liked that "whooosh..!"... i have noticed that the wicked wheel upgrade has reduced that noise though... less whoosh but quicker boost..! and a different "note" when that wheel sings..!

I have the AFE Magnum Stage II and love it. I originally had a very similiar setup the the Qwik Filter. As mentioned this worked great but I wanted to dress up things a bit. Additionally, the AFE Stage II kit completely (well almost) seals the filter from the hot engine bay and comes with a molded tube that joined up beautifully with the ATS ported compressor housing elbow. SO my intake path is a straight 4" or 5" with no reduction into the turbo. The sound is unbelieveable sounds like a jet when this puppy is under full boost and I actually have less black smoke (which the neighbors love... I hate it).

More air always = less smoke.
Got pictures of your setup? I might want to try that one as well.

Ford AIS is a great cold air kit! With the fender sleeve much better.
Why better with the fender sleeve.
1. No more restrictions to the airbox cause now you have 2 large openings. Filterminder will also show less restriction after the filter.
2. Filter stays much cleaner cause it is sucking from 2 openings, so less debris are sucked into the filterbox when you split the suction. Filter will last much longer. Mine has 10000 miles on it and still looks new. Also easily cleaned with a vacuum brush.
