I've got the Hypertech programmer now and am usually in Tow-Safe mode pulling a 24' cargo trailer at about 6K lbs
Next step is going to be the air filter system. I'm looking at K&N Filtercharger because I've had experience with it on my Explorer's. I'm also looking at the aFe Stage one and Stage two kits from USDieselParts.Com (pimp the sponsor!)...
Does anybody have experience good, bad or indifferent with these or other kits?
Thanks,
Joshua
BTW, why do some of your sigs show up in posts and mine is only if you mouse over the sig link in the header?
I would stay away from k&n. AFE makes a real good filter but its $$$$. I also recommend the Tymar intake or you can do it yourself with a napa 6637 filter. Its cheap and will filter better than both of the others mentioned. IMHO...... Someone will be by soon to give ya picks of the 6637 kwik filter.
Midway_Fubar, welcome to FTE. I personally use the NAPA 6637 filter myself. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/s...d.php?t=277571
It's an easy install. The only drawback IMO is that it lets out a lot of the intake droning noise. The plus side is you can really hear your turbo also. If you don't want to have to listen to that for whatever reason than I recommend the Ford AIS system. It's enclosure will help to quiet the intake noise that you will hear.
Black Cloud Diesel, one of this site's sponsors has it. It's listed at the bottom of the page. http://www.blackclouddiesel.com/Ford/intakes.htm
Yes, strokin_it I forgot to mention that. Fleetfilter is also a sponsor of this site. I recently bought two air filters, and a six pack each of oil and fuel filters from them so I'm set for quite a while. The same cost from the local NAPA store would have bought maybe one air filter and two each oil and fuel filters.
I'd get some gauges. Always good to know your EGT"s at the very least.
Won't be long before you go off the '"Tow Safe" mode and start exploring the performance capabilities of your PSD.
BTW, I have the AIS filtration system. Excellent quality and filtration.

Yeah go with the 46637 from Fleet the more stuff you order the more resonable the shipping is. I got 2 of the 46637s 2 fuel filters for the PSD fuel filters for 4 other veheacles a couple other air filters and trans filters and it was like 177 for filters and 14 for shipping. At napa they wanted 46 plus tax and shipping for the 46637s. Talk or email Bryan and he can find anything for you. Thier phone # is 1-866-wixfilt
Good Luck

I just Installed the AIRAID system on my PSD this week end. AS of now i am happy with it.. I did a 300 mile trip this weekend also... So i will Report My MPG Change (if Any) soon...
I really love the bigger intake cause when you are cruseing down the road and you hear the turbo let off and the wind up... ITs like music to my ears!!!!!!
Sounds great guys, I didn't think about the 6637 option even though I did something similar to my Geo Tracker a while back. I'm going to start with that and see how it works. Are they cleanable or am I going to be replacing them ever 6,000 miles?
