maybe my mule isn't "NORMAL"... but... in 90* heat and humid.. not towing, i run around 140* or so... ambient plus 50* - 60* is about what i see... i have added a big tru-cool to the stock coolers... now... i know you can run the temp up to 250*, but i don't EVER want to get my tranny that hot...
Something important is going on in there. It's a cooler for the trans.
If it is plugged, then it needs to be replaced or bypassed. If it is bypassed you might not have enough cooler, especially at low speeds and when backing.
Try repeating the test with the radiator cooler out of the circuit. If it flows more, you've found your problem.
Thanks again casey! I took a look at the system after i got home tonight, and the tranny was hot. about 215. it seems the return line is hotter than the line exiting the transmission. I'll have to inspect closer tomorrow when its light out!
this truck had front end work on it done a while back the radiator and everything up front were pulled, is it possible the cooler lines were put back in the wrong order. What order should the coolers be in?
