I have an Olympus D-450 Digital Camera 1.3 megapixels. I took the smartmedia card out to download into the computer. I wound up leaving it in for a couple days. After deleting the pictures from it, I put it back in the camera. Now the camera won't recognize it. Any clue as to what happened. I got on Olympus's web site and they don't even list it in their help page anymore. Is it time for a new camera or a new card?
My daughter has an Olympus and one of her cards did the same thing.
(I bought her a new card. They are cheaper than cameras!)
I put the card into my wife's Olympus D-550 and it works fine.
Go figure.
My daughter said that she had taken the card to the local Wally World to have the pics printed. That's when her problems started.
The camera won't reformat the card. I put the card in the computer, and I'm able to copy pictures to it. I also had taken it to Wally World, had pictures printed, I then brought it home, stuck it in the computer to save the pictures on a cd. Shortly there after is when my problems also.
I've got an Olympus. I remember when I was shopping for smart media cards it was suggested to buy the Olympus brand card, because it supported the panoramic feature my camera has. Supposedly, a standard SM card would work, but would not save pan shots correctly. I've never tried a standard card in mine. I'm not sure if that plays into your problem, but they might be a different format than Wally World is used to. Might be something to look into.
Heya Mike, if the card won't format in a card reader on the computer, then it's toast. We've got a 3 year old Olympus D-600L Digital Camera, and of the 4 smart media cards we've got, one died last year. And just a couple weeks ago, two more will not be recognized by the camera either. (I don't think it matters, but all four have the Olympus name on them.) I think we're done with this camera and type of media. Our next camera will use the SD cards.
I'll have to keep an eye on mine. When I bought it the only down side was the smart media format. It was on it's way out even then. I bought a 64meg card for it and have always left it in the camera. The card holds so many pics, it's not that big a deal for me to just download from the camera.
I've always been kind of dissapointed with the Olympus site, support wise.
