Angry I need some help with computer + digital camera please

I have a new laptop I'm using while working out in Arizona. It's an e-machine with windows XP. My camera is a Olympus C-3000 zoom. I have looked on the various sites, and I think I need what is called a "driver" for my laptop to reconize the camera. Is there a place to find the proper driver and instructions on how to install?? I'm taking pics of houses with a realtor and now I can't get the pooter to recon the camera and download for email. If anybody has got some ideas or knows how I can get this up and running, I'd be very, very thankkful. I've gotten frustrated for looking, I can't find an answer cut and dried to fix my problem.

Thanks again, Blair

get on the web and go this site

http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_se...uct=615&OS=Win

Olympus standard USB digital cameras require installation of Windows 2000 USB device driver before Windows XP can recognize the camera. The driver is located on the Camedia Master CD, or it can be downloaded at http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/win2000*****.

If you do actually need the driver(s), they should be on the disc that came with the camera, or should be available on the camera manufacturers website, if the camera is fairly new.

This probably won't help you but my Sony uses a "memory stick". I take it out of the camera and plug it into a usb adapter. It shows up as another drive. I can plug in the camera direct also. I didn't have any driver issues.

I've got the Olympus C-4000 and run it on my HP laptop w/xp. If you don't have the disk, you can download it from the stated site. The PRO version has the panorama option, if your camera has it and you have the right memory card, (propriortary thing.) If anyone knows any other good software I can use other than the Camedia Master let me know. It's OK, just not very user friendly when it comes to exporting. I don't want to use the email that comes with the package.

I sometimes have problems with the pc handshaking with the camera. I just start over by restarting the camera and plugging in the USB again. Not sure how close your C-3000 is to mine, but I've had to make sure mines in the right mode. Just haven't had that many problems with it.

EDIT: I was just reading at the Olympus site and xp will read my camera like a virtual drive without any drivers. However, for your C-3000, you'll need the USB driver that's on the site.

Thanks for the replys guys. I downloaded the win2000***** file that I thought would cure my issue, but I can't seem how to figure out how to run/install it on my machine. Maybe I saved it to thbe wrong location, they don't make it easy for those of use that aren't extremely pooter litrerate.

I thought this would be no biggie getting up and running so I installed the Camedia version 2.0 and left the CD in Virginia. Real smart. My home computer there (Virginia) recon's the camera fine, I think I need the right file to update the XP.

Our camera I think is less than two years old, but then again I really can't remember. Our camera uses little memory "cards", about the size of two US stamps. I can't plug them directly into the computer I don't think without a adapter.

Thanks for the USB link, I'll try it this evening, I really need to download the camera. My pooter will only go as far as "New hardward detected", but when the new hardware wizard asks to install, I have no file or disk to use.

I'll try the latest link and see how it goes. Many thanks for your help.

Later, Blair

If you have 2.0 in there now, you'll have to ugrade to 2.5, then to 2.5.1 so it'll work with XP. This link has both files.

This should work, (I hope). I know how it is on the road. After a while you quit collecting soaps.

Hey guys, thanks for the links and help. I'm sorry I didn't post back yet, but I've been working from 3a to 7p and I'm still adjusting to the heat and time change. I hope to try to set the pooter up later today, assuming I haven't gone unconscious on my first day off. Again, many thanks, Blair

I downloaded both files. The first one uploaded successfully, the second will not, it says that I am not upgraded to 2.5; the first file only took me to 2.01 upgrade. For some reason I can't see where to go from 2.01 to 2.5. I don't even see a upgrade listed. Is there another site to go to? Many thanks for the help so far. Later, Blair

I couldn't find it on the site either. You might try emailing them at the site and see if they can help.
