Making new friends

I am a sophomore in college and I was wondering if anybody here has any advice for trying to meet people/making friends around campus/in my classes. The college that I go to is a branch of a bigger university here in town so there are no dorms or anything like that. We all commute everyday, so I guess that could be a drawback. I'm a fairly shy person and have trouble trying to talk to people. Any ideas?

Grab something to eat before or after your classes....breakfast lunch or dinner. Just because it's dinner doesn't mean that it has to be a girl or guy, and it has to be a date. What else is nearby? Maybe you could go out and do something.

And my super secret double probation surefire 100% of the time way to talk to people.........

Say hello.

Ask someone if they know of a good place to eat near there and you will find out the place to hang at.Also ask questions ,people love to talk about their hobbies, cars and of course the weather.

Say "Howdy", whip out.

Whip out: to step up to someone you don't know and introduce yourself and shake their hand.
