Well red, I took a look and you never got welcomed to the forum nor learned the secret handshake. Sooooo, welcome to the forum! You've already been around enough to know who to watch out for, etc. Read the sticky threads at the top of the forum and set up your gallery. We all want to know what the projec looks like.

As far as the 289 heads go, you might get an answer here but you'll have more luck I think in the engine forums.

Hey, welcome to FTE. 289 heads are right up my alley. I love the 289 and have built a few in several Mustangs including the engine in my 56 PU. The P/N doesn't tell me a whole lot. If you look at the valve train, you'll notice a big difference between stock and hipo heads. Hipo heads came with screw in studs. They also came with guide plates on the push rods. Otherwise, the head is essentially the same besides a little stiffer valve springs. The guide plates are a dead give away on hipo heads. Some of the earlier hipo engines ran solid lifters but a majority have hydraulics. If they are hipo heads, they are worth some $$$. With the C6 number you gave. C6 stands for 66 (289). That was the first year the 289 came with smog tubes which actually went into the head or exhaust ports. Then they had this funky looking smog pump with hoses everywhere supposedly sucking the emissions elsewhere. (thanks to new smog standards). This may be the California model cars only. Look near the exhaust ports and see if you see a plug or a tapped hole. If you do, for sure they are not hipo heads. 1966 was the only year that had the smog holes tapped into the heads. 67, they got rid of it and did something else. A cool trick I learned with 289 heads is to put a set of 351 W springs on it. It gives you a much stiffer springs and less chance to float the valves at high revs. Now, I'm giving my horsepower secrets away.
