im about to pull my 300 6 cylinder from my 1970 halfton custom and im dropping in.... well what we now belive is a 360 and i have some doubts... it doesnt look like its going to fit lol.. but i dont know for sure yet havnt tryed, for now the job is stalled untill in can come up with a few needed parts so just wondering if a 360 will fit. silly question but im still learning so give me a break :P
that series of engine is one of the most common to be used in these trucks. if you need parts nearly all can be had from a junkyard. you can do the swap fairly cheap. i know the radiator is different but i think the engiine perches are the same for the fe and the inline 6, they just need to be moved back? i think. there are two sets of holes for them on the frame. one of the holes is hidden with the mount in place but you should be able to see the other hole easily.
I have a 360 in my 68 fits fine, Where I like the pulling power of the 360 its a pig for gas. Are you going with headers or cast exhaust. If you go headers think about wrapping them with heat material will help the starter stay cool. I think you will need to change out the radiator and go bigger. This is a good time to paint the fender wells and work on the steering box!
