Unhappy Could it Be The Battery

I went out to my 1999 Ford ranger this Morning and it did not turn over, It was dead. I went out later and heard a ticking it may have been there the frist time was not listening then. It still has the org. battery in it. So could it be the battery? What was the Ticking?

the tickin was the starter soleniod clicking, trying to power the starter. i would check all your cables on the battery first.

i would go with the wall mart battery. it has more cca, and also more regular cranking amps. batterys are only made by 5 or 6 companys, and then labled for the stores who sell them.
