stupid battery

so was installing my CB radio into my truck tonight what a pain in the *** that is with the center console shift!!!

so i left the truck on so i can listen to the radio i had the door open so i had to move it to the notch before you crank the motor so it wouldnt ding me to death. it took maybe 3 hours from 4 to 7 and at 6 i noticed the auto lights came on even tho it was still light. turned them off ant cept workin. finnished at 7 tsted it and everything was great. went to crank up and move back to the front yeard and just "tick tick tick tick"

'Fing A!'

why would my truck die after just 3 hours of light battery use
im getting a bad *** battery tomorrow. any suggestions?

I just went and bought the biggest Interstate battery I could find for $120 last year.

at least 800 CCA, and 1200 CA I believe

I'd look for something similar. Help crank the 5.4 over, and also give you a little bit more juice when doing things similar to what you described. Bigger does = better in this category IMO

Motorcraft makes an 850 cca. It sounds like you had the truck in the run posion. There are a lot for computers and things getting power. If you have the autiophile sterio that take some power too

I did a post somewhere a few months back shorebird...even included prices...tally was around $5,000 or

only did the battery because the SUV battery died...I put the OEM Ford battery into the SUV, and got the biggest one I could find for the F-150

I bought the biggest battery that would fit in the tray from Checker auto. I got the 4yr replacement plan for 10 bucks also. the original battery maybe took up half the tray.

i have best luck with them ol Interstate. I think mine is 875 CCA to crank my 6.8. it is raining like cats and dogs so i am not going out side to look. 800 CCA for the wifes 5.4. It is nice to know that at -20 and my 6.8 sit outside it starts on the first try.

Motorcraft are fine. Most all batteries are made at the same place. I had to put a battery in my 07 already. For some reason i had a 540cca instead of the 750cca that it called for. I replaced it under warr with an 850cca
i see these batteries last 10 years all the time.

These newer vehicles use up a lot of battery just sitting for several days. The computer is holding data, your radio/cd player is holding data etc. I met a guy that's a service manager for a Toyota dealership (not his fault) who said it's not uncommon for a battery to get too low to start the car after sitting for a week. So bigger is better.

batterys

In my experience, new car batterys are cheap and will not last. When it is replacement time I will go with an Interstate. Why? Lift the wornout battery coming out of your truck and then lift the interstate you are replacing it with. Its about lead. Cheap equals no lead and quality equal more lead plates. Its hard to save money buying cheap products. i have an 07 so I'm about due!

battery life is more a function of where you live vs. the quality of the battery. There are some better brands out there, but modern manufacturing pretty much has erased the huge gaps between the brands. Now it's about Brand Name and the associated warranty you get vice "quality"

cold climates eat batteries. plain and simple.

hotter climates not so much. I've seen batteries go well in excess of 6+ years back home in Texas. The batteries don't have to work so hard in the heat, so they last longer
