OK I finally got the drivers door open about 6 inches. Enough to read the plate on the door frame, this is what it says but it doesn't seem to match up to anything.
Serial 6991010VK-56907
Trim ACA
Paint 52
Trans 3/LD
Axle Ratio 3.70-1
It is screwed on not riveted so maybe been replaced?
Yes, It's Canadian, but it appears to be mixed bag of parts. Which very well could be! I just went to check for the VIN on the frame and I can't see anything stamped on it in front of the cab. Does anyone know if Canadian trucks would be different location?
It got 57 grill, Ford F100 badges, Ford tailgate, Mercury Steering wheel (just noticed it - kind of rusty)
But I can't find a VIN on the frame to figure out for sure!
Open the Dispatch Box Door & look for the Data Plate the should be Rivited on the inside of the door, that should give you a good starting place.
Send pix of the Horn Button & other things, thank'ee.

The rating plate I found is on the drivers door jam, the only thing in the glove box is the oil recommendation sticker. There is not holes or anything either, so I don't think there ever was one.
I was out looking tonight and the fenders and box are a green color (under the other layers). However the cab and hood appear to be white from the start, but the hood emblems (Ford) don't match the plate on the cab (Merc). Also the front grill ('57) doesn't match the plate on the cab ('58).
Not that any of this really matters to me, I'm just trying to figure out what I've got. I'm just having fun ripping it apart. Have to wait till I find the VIN on the frame to know what it started out as I guess.
I think I figured some stuff out, I was over thinking most of it.
I assumed the V in the serial number was for '58 because 'S' is 55, 'T' is 56. I now 'think' they skipped 'U' because it looks similar to 'V'. Hopefully someone with a Canadian built F100 either '57 or '58 can verify this.
So it's a '57 (until proven otherwise)
I also assumed it was a Merc because of the different serial number (not F10----), this too was wrong. I guess the canadian trucks used different numbers, so it's back to being a Ford (until proven other wise)
So I own a '57 Ford F100, with original hood & cab. Someone replaced fenders and box.
Not sure on steering wheel (because it says Merc), but I read somewhere they used both name parts on some trucks, so could be original.
The serial number should be stamped on both frame rails, in front of the front axle on the passengers and behind the front axle on the drivers side. I learned this when i got my 1957 F-250 titled.
