I always forget which mine has? Ok, where's the link to which is which? I know my pump is leaking around pulley. have to fill it up each week now. The inner fender will never rust for sure in that spot!
So far the box itself is in good shape. (with fingers crossed)
there will be about 4" of steering shaft exposed between the column and the box if its a bendix box. the ford box is longer and goes almost right to the column.
Someone was telling me he didn't think the bendix pump had to be used with the bendix steering box. He said a ford pump, or any pump for that matter would work. I would think that the pump would be calibrated for the box, size of hose (fitting ends), amount of PSI. Anyone got any insight on this?
DC, you must use the Bendix pump with the Bendix box.
The Ford pump is a "slipper" or variable pressure type pump, which has it reduce the pressure as the RPMs increase. The Ford box is designed to oeprate with this setup.
The Bendix system, though, is designed to operate with higher pressures. I inadvertently hooked up a Ford pump when I first installed the Bendix system, and it would not operate properly. It felt like there was no power steering at rest, and it was barely there at freeway speeds.
Could it have been a bad pump? Possibly, but I never really determined it.
Just my experience.

Any takers on a low mileage (68K) tight Bendix box and pitman with 2 seal rebuild kits from Ford less the input shaft seals? $100 you pay shipping, core alone is $150 to $250 by rebuilders plus their rebuild fee? Good for a manual to power convert for pre 68 as you don't have to change column, pitman and column to run a Ford box.

I have a 67 F100 with 240 six,would like to have power steering.Is the bendix just a drop in?My e-mail is srhinehartdev@aol.com
