Does yours use the quick disconnect fittings? It might, but my 88 just has two plastic sleeves on each side that pop right out and it is free. Just remember to de-pressurize the fuel system.
Finally got around to changing the fuel filter. I chose the "pull the fuse route" to relieve pressure. I pulled the dash fuse cover, got my magnifying glass and fuel pump is not listed. Under the hood panel has no listings. Haynes fuse figure did not match but relay picture did. I do not have owner's manual. Pulled second relay from the fender side and fuel pump would not run. Started engine, died within seconds, changed filter using special tool with no problem. Maybe 1/4 cup gas spilled even with full tank.
I too have a 95 Bronco, and changing the fuel filter was a pain, but not complicated. I didn't relieve any pressure before doing it and was fine (may not always be the case). I still had safety glasses and a fire extinguisher for safety.
What you need:
You need the disconnect tool (about $5.00) that is for 5/16".
After you pull off the safety clips, slide the tool inside the hose going away from the filter. You probably wont hear or feel anything to indicate you have freed the hose but if the tool is all the way in, you have. Make sure there is room for you hose to back off. Now you have to pull like hell (or at least i did). It took me forever to finally get it to start backing off. the hose on the front end side is the worst because there isnt much room. I had to pull the filter out of its holder(another pain).
When i finally got the first hose off not much gas came out but i quickly pointed it up to keep it that way. about a 1/2 a cup came out when i tilted the fuel filter down.
Hope this helped....have fun.
