I have 2000 F-350 CC Dually 7.3 Diesel approx 113000 miles on only mod is the Kwik air filter. I have just noticed that when the truck is under hard accel I hear a crakling sound coming from under the hood. Does anyone have any Ideas ???
could it be described as a hissing noise? (like a air pressure leak?) thats typical of the kwik filter, because i have heard it when under heavy acceleration. also you should hear a noise similar to a blow-off valve on a rice burner changing gears-when you let off the throttle or change gears with an automatic tranny. i notice the most hissing shifting from 3 to OD with a constant pedal. ive drug the hissing sound out for 7 seconds once before
hmm i refer to that as "bacon sizzling" i have never heard of a arcing sound when driving, hmm maybe someone more knowledgeable will chime in here soon....
No matter who does the oil changes YOU need to make sure it's CI-4 Rated. It sounds like the same problem I was having. Change the Oil and Make sure it's CI-4 rated.
