Steering Shaft Coupler

Can anyone direct me to the correct part. I need the top coupler for the shaft. I replaced the steering box and the RAG joint now I need the Shaft coupler that connects the column to the shaft to finish getting rid of all the play in the steering. The UJoint is totally gone..

Can this part be bought seperate or do I need ot buy the whole shaft? If I have to buy the whole shaft It may just get a custom piece made...

Anyone ever look at one from say a Mustang they seem to look the same..

Thanks
Dave

Give Borgeson steering shafts or Flaming River steering shafts a try, I know they have replacement shaft assy's and I think they have replacement u-joints for the shafts too. -Ed

How do you seperate the joint from the shaft? I have the same problem with my 77 F-250 and i have found a good stock u-joint I am wanting to put in.

They have the half-circle retaining clips on the inside of the yoke ears just like the wheel-joints in a front axle. You should be able to pop them off with a screw driver then tap the U-joint out.

No I found it in a Junk yard. The joint is in pretty good shape for being as old as it is. I wish I could find a cheaper new joint than Borgeson or flaming river. I have been looking on a few web-sites and they only list a whole new steering shaft for like $350 and up. I may be looking inthe wrong places though.

Crazy that you can't just but the u-joint. I'm going to investigate more. Worse case I'll buy the coupler's someplace and make a solid shaft without rag joint.

If I can get the right setup i have some connections outside the US tha ti can get items nmanufactured and maybe coudl offer a alternative to the high priced stuff that is caomparable quality.
