i have my 400 out and i am in the process of rebuilding it. i looked at the motor mounts and they look pretty worn out. I was wondering if anyone has ran solid motor mounts and if so where did you get them from? my truck is a daily driver and it is going to be around 400 hp. and i was also wondering if you ran solid mounts did you get a solid trans mount too?
yeah i know they will.......i plan on driving it like i did before i tore it down...he he he he he he so i will be hard on it. i have a few friends that run solid mounts on their vehicles that they drive on the street. and they dont break anything...also i am beginning to think that no one makes solid mounts for me as it is. thanks for the input though
if you want to feel all the vibration a motor puts out, go for it, but the rubber mounts will help things last longer, as they absorb the shock rather than transfer it to the frame.
thats what i like about solid mounts.......but i just cant find any. thats why i started this thread was to see if anyone knew where i could get some with out spending an arm and a leg.
solid mounts will eventually break something expensive, guaranteed. the block is not made to take the vibration, the mount bosses will tear off the block and leave a window. the mounts will tear a chunk out of the frame. the bellhousing will break. seen it all.
hmmm really? thats odd because my boss has solid mounts on his 500+ hp motor. and drives it just like i am going to drive my truck. and i know i wont be near 500hp, so you are saying that i will break exspensive stuff. i wasnt looking for what people think of running solid mounts, i just want to know where i can get some.
To each their own, we just were trying to save some headache, with the flex of the chassis, you don't want things too solid, but if you really want them, here's one place autofab
yeah i will prolly just stick with the stockers. i am on a budget and cant justify spending 220 dollars on something that might end up hurting me in the long run. thanks for looking out for my best interest
I just welded my old rotted rubber ones solid. I have'nt got around to the trany mount yet, but its on my list. Haven't had any problems YET! I guese I will see.
