How much can a C6 handle?
I am throwing a large diesel into a friend's truck, and I am wondering just what can a C6 handle for torque, with easily obtainable parts?
How about a good rear axle for this? The truck has a D60 in it now, and I know it's going to throw the carrier out the back of it in short order.

what do you mean by large diesel?? i have a C/6 in my 88 with 7.3 and a banks turbo, pushing 350 hp, and have no problems. i also have the sterling 10.25 rear in it, and that is equal to the d60, so i see no problem there either. just make sure you get a diesel C/6. they have heavy duty parts in them to withstand the torque of the diesel. if you get a gas trans and try to adapt it, you will scatter parts all over the road.
It's an industrial diesel, 12.7l, about 182hp, and 490lbs/tq in it's naturally aspirated state. I am expecting twin turbos to pick these up into the 400hp, 900+lbs/tq range. Is the diesel c6 an SAE bell housing pattern? If so, do you know which one?
What is the most torque/horsepower anybody has seen a c6 last behind? I know at least two people here run them behind 500"+ stroked 460s, so they have to be able to handle quite a bit, but I need a solid number to start with.

I already answered some of Jared's questions in another forum but just for future reference in case someone is searching for the same info, a properly built C6 can handle well over 1000hp. 500hp is getting near the limits of a stock C6.
