I've heard of them too. I would probably use them but I would check into their "gaurantee" before hiring them. A reputable Co. would not hesitate to divulge important info that you need to make a decision. But if they hem-haw around with me they are history in my book. If you try them let us know how it goes.
Personally, I never needed the services of a gaggle of geeks.
Been building my own systems since 85, so I am my own geek I guess.
All the neighbors bring their dead and dying over for me to rehabilitate
and clean the viruses-ad-spyware out when they start running slow.
But, like the housekeepers that won't do windows, I do not touch MACs
Dialtone
I don't need no steenking geeks! I am one! I applied for the geek squad, but they never called me back.. Rumor has it that you HAVE to have A+ and MS certs to even be considered. I've been building and working on PCs for almost 10 years now. There really isn't too much of anything I can't fix given the right tools and software.
I agree with Dialtone and pfogle. Iv'e been at messing with comps since I can remember. All my friends and family and bosses call me to fix theres. My youngest Sister-n-law who just graduated from web desigen college calls me to fix hers or trouble shot and she's in the U.K. She's e-mailed me about homework she needed information on web design interfacing aplications. She graduated with honors....hummmmmmmmm or did I under her name lol. I can read a system application text books, like most people read a book they love.
Yeah, Geek Squad “worked” on my computer and installed a new hard drive. I took it home and it did not work and took it back to them (in a Best buy Store). Well, They stated my motherboard was bad and that it was going to be too expensive to fix it because Dell used an oddball board on my model. OK, I went and got another computer and Poindexter gave me back my money ALL of my money.
One of the guys was really a stand-up person and told me that it would cost less for the board, but in the long run it was not worth it and I was OK with that. The other one told me that it would take three hours to do the job(first job), OK I thought and I went to go to the gym and get my kids from school. I gave them six hours and I came back and the second one helped me and I saw that it was not done. The first one would not look me in the eye and slithered out. Long story short I did not leave Best Buy until 8:00 and I was there from 4:00 with a three and five year old.
I took a Computer Information Technology class in high school. A fancy name for computer repair...taught us how to fix computers, install OS, set up a network, make cables and wires, ect...
I dont understand computers, and probably never will. The software and 'codes' and all that programing crap is waaaay to complicated for me.
