reverse lights

I have a 79 F-150 and the reverse lights don't work and the brake lights don't work i was wondering if any one could give me some info on how to get these lights working again.Without tearing all the carpet out and recking something. Thank you for your time from a dedicated member

full size van and want to fix it up.??????
I have a 1979 ford full size van and my reverse lights don't work all the rest do but the reverse lights don't what would be an easy and afordable way to fix this problem.If anybody wants to give me some info on how to pimp my ride i'm open to suggestions remember it's a full size van with lots of room. thanx for the time.

If the reverse lights are the only thing out, I would crawl under the van and unplug the switch on the side of the tranny. You should have two red/blue wires. Ignore these. If you take a small jumper wire and jump the two remaining wires, the reverse lights should come on if the key is in run.
If they come on, the switch on the tranny is bad.
If they don't come on, it may be a fuse or something wrong with the sockets in the back.
