Subwoofer Box Help

So I bought a subwoofer box for my truck (1 x 12") and it just barely fits behind the rear seat (99 F250 Crew Cab). I *should* be okay if I put a speaker grill over the woofer but I am concerned that it might be too tight. Is there more room to be had if I remove some of the carpet on the rear wall? Should I just have a thinner subwoofer box made? Thanks guys.

you could make a smaller box, but you will want to research the recommended size box for that sub

Best thing is to just get a custom-fabbed box. They're not too expensive, and you could even do it yourself if you have the tools. Just make sure it fits the recommended size for the sub. Removing the carpet back there won't do a bit of good.. 1/4 inch maybe.
