OK, Im still looking for the best all around MT tire and have started narrowing down the contenders. Does anyone have any experience with both of these tires? I am looking for decent off-road traction with a tire that is not incredibly noisy and that will last at least 40K. I know those kind of stats are rare in an MT, but from what I have read these two could possibly do it. Also, I'm not interested in BFG MT, so please dont waste your time trying to convince me to get them. Thanks a lot for your help guys. See signature for truck details.
Also, if anyone can tell me if the Firestone Destination M/Ts are able to be turned around backwards for a blackwall without white lettering, that would be great. Thanks again for the help.
I have no experience with the Firestones, but the TRXUS I do. My buddy ran a set of 31x10.50s on his '95 F150 and they were an awesome tire. They were quieter than most ATs on the highway, and they wore awesome. I can't give you a long term report on the tires, as he got a few beers in him one nite and the pickup did an endo at around 65mph. He ran them for 18,000 or so and they still looked brand new. The only test they got was mud, alot of mud. And in mud they did very well.
The tires would probably see more mud than anything else off-road, but they are going on my daily driver F250, which is why I need them to have good on-road manners as well. I really like what I hear about the TRXus, but honestly I like the look of the Firestone better and for the amount of off-road use I would do Im sure that both would be more than sufficient. Im convinced that the TRXus is a great tire, I guess what I am really wanting is for someone to tell me that the Firestone is a good one as well for 2 reasons: 1)Like I said, I like their look better, and 2)I would get them for about $15 less per tire. I know thats not much, but it is something. Thanks for the info, I'm looking forward to some more advice.
dont have a clue about either tire but to answer your question any tire can be turned out to have the white lettering on the inside, you just have to tell the tire guy before he starts mounting them.
is either tire directional? it doesn't matter, i was just curious!
What ever tire you go with look for the large void in the tread. And go with a size that your motor will handle. Look in the truck magazines that do the tire comparisons. I like the BFG M/T 35`s works best on my truck and we have alot of Kansas clay dirt. Had a set of Interco Mud bogger TSL`s for a time, threw alot of mud, but the tire tread did not let me get good tire speed to keep momentum going.
Pretty sure he would have made it all the way thru if that 302 wouldn't have run out of power. After we yanked him out with the tractor, I took my '99 with my STTs on it and took his same tracks in 2nd gear 4-hi and went all the way thru, then he ran thru it a few more times after that with his truck.
OK, but did he get through that far on momentum? Sounds like it if he "ran out of power"... Id imagine he had to build up power first (at least witha 302)
He didn't take a very big run at the hole, I'd say he hit it going 10-15mph, tires drug him thru to where he eventually ran out of snort with the very tired 302 that was in there. Not to mention his front bumper was pushing that crap.
