2001 F250 always give us a code of EBP. I cant remember the code number but I know it deals with this part. The EBP hooks to a line that looks like it goes into the Exhaust manifold. What I want to do is clean that line out to make sure there isnt a restriction in there. What can I use to clean that line out and is it even possible to do this. Any info would help.
Thanks
i used compressed air to blow it out but mine wasn't plugged badly, my sensor was also bad. napa now carries them for less than ford. if it possible you may want to remove the line from the manifold so that the crud doesn't run through the turbo.
That's abut the only way to clean it. Brake cleaner and compressed air. I don't think the tube is too expensive to just replace it, but that sensor is crazy high at the dealer.
SP diesel carries a little deal to eliminate the exhaust backpressure sensor for like $35. The only catch is you need to have gauges in order to protect yourself.
I would love to put it on the truck the only thing its my brothers and no guages. Only a superchips tuner in it on low setting. He keeps getting the EBP sensor code so it must be defueling. I noticed last time we used it to pull his small trailer it got terrible fuel mileage. I think that is the culprit. If I cant get him to get guages at least I will have him clean out the tube and get a new sensor.
If I am not throwing any EBP codes on mine would I need this mod from SP diesel.
the info on the sensor is line code: crb, part no:220215 my cost 48.94 but i do get parts at cost not list price so it may be more. ok i just checked on prices and my cost went up to 55 and list price 114. maybe you can sweet talk the counter person into giving it to you at cost. or maybe you know a mechanic that can get it for you. can't remember what ford wants for the sensor.
Thanks. I have a friend that owns a repair shop so I will get him to get it for me. I just cant understand why 2 Napa stores couldnt pull up the part number. The CRB is that the brand or ??. I would try to look it up online but napa online is not working.
I will call them tomorrow.
P.S. I tried calling Advance auto parts and they tried crossing the part number and it came up as an AC switch. Im wondering if its the same thing.
Isnt the principle of the EBP sensor just to trip when it hits 45psi. does it monitor the exact pressure or only looking for a max then trip.
ny local napa store couldn't pull the 6637 number... when i told them what it was for i think they thought i was full of crap... no matter... i got the wix 46637 shipped overnight to me from fleetfilter.com for less than napa would have charged me for the 6637... someday i'm gonna stop in and show it to them...!
The Exhaust Back-Pressure sensor is a variable capacitor sensor that is supplied a 5-volt reference signal by the PCM and returns a linear analog voltage signal that indicates pressure.
An open or short in the Exhaust Back-Pressure sensor wiring will result in a low out of range voltage at the PCM, and the PCM will disable Exhaust Back-Pressure control.
sorry... that post was a little off topic... i only wanted to affirm that the napa boys don't always have ALL the listings... and sometimes us psd guys ask for some pretty strange stuff...!
ok i rechecked the part number and check in the napa system again and yes the part number is good and the "crb" is a line code. i checked the catalog for the sensor and its not in there. when i got it from napa it was a brand new listing but the catalogs don't get updated often enough. so go back into napa and find the manager and give him the number and line code and tell him to get you the part. don't let them say well i can't find it in the catalog. tell them to earn their money and get it. you already did the hard work of getting a number.
Does anybody know where the EBP sensor is located? I think i have to change mine, I have a burnt or sticking exhaust valve to change..........would that cause the sensor to burn out?
