napaonline.com shows the part as a
"Echlin Fuel System EGR Valve Pressure Feedback Sensor" BUT in the picture of it they show a power steering pump. Napa needs to update there pictures correctly.
As for sensor location I found a good site that lists and shows you where all the sensors are. You might have to copy and past it if it wont let you use the link.
Does anybody know where the EBP sensor is located?
If you have a single alternator there is an idler pulley right in the middle front of the engine up high. The the EBPS is directly behind it, just above the water pump.
Does anybody know where the EBP sensor is located? ....
It's easy to find. Looking at your passenger side exhaust manifold, at the side that is at the front of the engine, you'll see a tube that goes forward and then up. At the end of this tube is a sensor. That's the EBP.
hey rosa70 glad to hear the knuckleheads were finally able to help you. and 75 is a good price since napa list is 114. i don't know what the dealership wants for them been too long since i checked.
rosa70 just got thinking and i never paid attention to what year truck your working on. now i see it a 2001 and my truck is a 95 i hope the part number i gave you is still correct. sorry about that.
I was told the 94-2004 are all the same EBPS. I ordered it today and should be here tommorrow morning. The tube was easy to clean out and the EBP sensor was just full of crud in it. Removed the tube on from the Exhaust manifold and blew it out from the top so nothing went into the manifold. I tried cleaning out the EBP sensor but it was so full of crap it was impossible to get it all out. Before it would give me code 470 and 473 after I cleaned it out it only gave me code 470 so we decided to just change it out. I will let you know how it does tomorrow.
Thanks..
Got the part from Napa this morning. Its identical to the one that came out. Was getting code 470 now im getting no codes so its works perfectly. Thanks TJbeggs for saving us some $$$$.
So if anyone needs that sensor its part number
cps220215 which is echlin brand from Napa.
anything to help. napa also now carries cam sensors and a couple of other things that used to be dealer only parts. the problem is that normally you have to get them to work a little harder if they don't see it in the computer. the shop i work for is the biggest buy of parts from the local napa so they will usually work a little hard for us. through of the 8 or 9 employees we will generally only talk to 2 of them because the rest of them aren't quite as knowledgeable.
I'll keep you all posted on results. I'm dropping it off in the morning for the day. Highland Park Ford IL so far have taken ownership of the issue. 25K miles left on engine warrantee.
Q? to ALL - Those of you w/EBP codes, did you get them after you tuned only? Anyone get the codes on stock trucks that never were chipped or tuned?
2003 EB Excuse w/75K
A-Pillar gauages about to go in... then the 4" exhaust, air box and then tune it. Oh yeah, Baseline begins w/guages.
Does anybody know where the EBP sensor is located? I think i have to change mine, I have a burnt or sticking exhaust valve to change..........would that cause the sensor to burn out?

rosa70, did your truck drive any different after the new sensor? Mine is also giving me the P0470 EBP code but I doubt it's defueling because it cooks the tires with my Predator in the 85 HP mode.
After the new part install the code would not come up any more. When we removed the old one it was just full of buildup in it. As for difference we only noticed it pulling a load as it got better fuel mileage and would not chug anymore when we needed to really get on the throttle.
do yall think if my exhaust backpressure sensor is clogged or bad i would be getting low boost because im getting 7 lbs of boost...plus my tube going from my sensor to my valve is missing not there.. plus my truck runs like sh$$
...plus my tube going from my sensor to my valve is missing not there.
Are you serious? How can you stand to drive the thing with that big of an exhaust leak? I'd say your #1 priority is replacing that tube, or at least capping off. It may just cure what ails ya'.
