Ive noticed the last 2 times ive floored are 2001 excursion that in first gear it will go to 5 grand no problem and i think it would go to six if i dont back out of it. Once i was showin someone it wouldnt spin the tires and tonight somebody in a pickup with a 5.4 needed a attitude adjustment at the light . This dosent seem normal to me but im form the old school i got a 460 with a e-40d. It just seems like it needs to hit 2nd alot faster anyone elses 10 act like this?
In D, mine will always shift at 4800. When dragracing, I tried shifting at 5000 and over. Got my best times leaving it in Drive and letting it shift at 4800. Felt it losing torque over 4800.
So this is normal and if i stay in it i shouldnt hurt the motor right. Im in drive when this happens but i always back off and let it shift. This is drag racing which i dont do much but i got to represent the 10 It just scares me seeing the tach go that high.

Mine shifts at 5200 on the 1-2 shift also, the rev limiter will kick in before you hurt the engine.I have hit mine many times, no harm.Hey I go to Tomball fairly often, I work for BJ Services.
I wasnt sure if it had a rev limiter or not. Oh yeah you ever seen a 96 lifted green ford f-250 sittin on 38s. Thats what im in 95% of the time. Im always goin through tomball.
