Throttle cable loose??
I was doing a little work on my truck with a friend of mine yesterday and we noticed that it seems like the throttle cable has a lot of excess slack. It's more than he's seen in any of his cars, and I've never really given it a lot of thought. I noticed that where it attaches to the gas pedal, it seems to have a slot, which it was unseated from, but even when I pulled it down, there was a lot of slack. So my question is... is this normal? How much give does your cable have? I've got some ideas on how I might fix it, but I don't want to break it or anything. So if anyone cares to go outside and check their truck, I'd appreciate it! Quite a few Rangers have loose t-cables.
On most Ranger sites, there is the "throttle cable mod" which uses zip ties to take teh slack out of the cable.
Just don't overdo it or it will break, which some who have tried the "mod" have indded done.
