hmm.. from those screen shots you provided MRKnight, the user interface looks suspiciously like another O/S I know of, one that comes with a unique form of computer...
Hmm..
Aside from a few color scheme changes, I don't SEE any difference from XP. I know it is probably a lot different under the hood...but whatever. Before I upgrade to ANOTHER new OS from M$, I'll just sit down and take the time to figure out Linux/Unix and have myself a much more stable system.
I'll get it probably 2 years after it comes out. I'm barely just on XP.. i couldn't stand it for a while because it wasn't stable. That's why I kept win98 so long. But I upgraded probably 7 months ago to XP lol. I got tired of nothing being out there for 98 so I went up. That's probably how it'll be with longhorn (vista's crappy) for me.
Haha I had ME for about 3 days.. then I went to 98 again lol. I like XP as long as I have this 1GB of memory lol. I like the ability to skin it anyway I want (I know 2000 is skinnable too, but XP seems to have a lot more stuff), and I'm getting to like the feel of it.
I bought a comp today for $125 Canadian Dollars A friend is installing XP on it for me. I have been using 98SE up til now, look forward to learning XP, if theres much to learn. I'll have to get the hang of XP before I switch to Vista Cruiser, which should only be a few years

By the time "Vista" comes out I will have everyone in the house converted to some flavor of Linux.
Linux has come a long way in the last few years. I've seen a couple of distro's that most people could not tell the difference between that and windows unless they got into the file sytems they just thought it was a different desktop theme.
As far a security goes, Linux isn't really more secure, it's just that Windows has a much larger presence so of course it's going to be the target. If Linux/Unix was on as many machines and windows, you can bet the shoe would be on the other foot.
I myself will stay with XP until my computer craps out and I have to buy a new one. One screen shot I saw of the OS reminded me of the "Fisher-Price" interface that XP has. It's good that I could go back the classic look of Windows.
I use my PC for surfing the net and playing simulator games plus updating our bands web site....and that's it.
Like it was stated before.....Microsoft is the devil.

I have to agree with you here. I actually do PREFER LINUX / Solaris but M$ is what pays my bills if you know what I mean. However I do have a genuine respect for XP and Windows 2003, and from what I see (under the hood) that respect will be given to Longhorn as well.
Not only do I have a Longhorn VM running, I have Red Hat Fedora and Solaris 10 VMs running right alongside.
If it's going to be a machine license instead of a user license forget it. I refuse to pay ~$200 EACH to put and OS on all 5 to 6 of my machines. I'll stick with Win 2000, or Linux...
pfogle, with xp pro, you can install it as many times as you want. i build computers to sell for a living, or a income anyway, and all my computers that i sell i run xp pro on, and only one liscence. on my personal computers, im runnin linux, this one i got mandrake 10.1. i like linux cause its not a resource hog like xp.
I've got a copy of XP pro, and the last time MS wanted to verify it, it said it wasn't a legit copy... I know better.... I also hate the way MS does it's business so it's RedHat Fedora Core for me.. Or Mandriva 10.. (Used to be Mandrake).
