OK:
1: there is no card in the glove box. Been there tried that.
2: I bought it from an individual from another state and had it shipped to me.
3: They quit putting the codes on the modules in 2002.
4: Dealers around here, Denver, won't do **** for free.
page 85 of the 05 owners manual.dead mid page next to the printed key pad,
"this code is located on the owners wallet card in the glove box,is marked on the computer module, and is available from your authorized dealer."
i'd find that module and find the code printed on it.
Page 86 in mine says the same thing. Now where is the computer module? Dealer insists that Ford DOES NOT put them on them anymore.
Anybody have an idea where the module is? I refuse to pay $90.00 for that.
Got you email Capt. Charlie. Thanks, and I replied.
Believe it or not, I had my truck at a Ford dealer today for some warranty work and I mentioned that I needed the code and it should be covered under warranty. They wouldn't do it and wanted $90.00. I said forget it and left
my truck there for the warranty work. When I went to pick it up, he told me they pulled the code for FREE, AND,,,,,,,,,,, even cut me another key for $2.00!!!!!! I was shocked, but happy as hell.
trying to get to bed , but got a e-mail i felt i should post before.
if any one should loose their code card for the keyless entry. inside the truck from the drivers side look up at the fire wall just to the left of center for the vsmodule with a flash light you should see the code on the module. you can also remove the radio to help see it better . a dealer can pull it out useing a ford scan tool . good luck if you need it it. and thank you FORD-DOCTOR for the advise.
I have a 2004 f250 and just had the dealer do some warranty work for electrical problems. They replaced the 'Vehicle security module' and my original keypad code no longer worked. The code is enbedded in this module.
The 'Vehicle security module' on mine is right behind the radio, UP HIGH. Looking up from the drivers floor, you can see it. I had a friend who is a lot thinner and younger than me reach up with a small mirror and look for a 5 digit number. Sure enough it was there on the top side, on a white sticker along with the part number.
I tried the number and it worked.
Har har har. Sorry, I am going thru the same thing with my Lincoln LS on another website like this one.
You MUST have the built in code in order to ADD optional codes. You CANNOT CHANGE the original code. The original code is on a card with the owners manual, usually lost first chance. Ford customer service has a policy NOT to give the code to second owners, theft prevention you know.
The dealer can scan it out. But some say they can't while others will charge a good chunk o change. I guess it depends on how good a customer you are and luck.
What I have been told and have not yet verified is that the code is also printed in several places...
If you had a trunk, it is supposed to be printed on the hinges, I have looked and not seen it. It is supposed to be on the computer, but they don't tell you which one. I have looked at the engine control computer and did not see it but then I did not look at all possible surfaces since it is a hassle to do. What makes most sense and what I have been told is that it is printed on the computer inside the driver door that controls the keyless entry. This should be easy to verify but I haven't had time, yet.
Good Luck, I would recommend looking at the door computer.
