I just purchased an 2006 F250 CrewCab 4x4 w/PSD. My first mod was a HID conversion kit.

The kit came with two 9008/H13 bulbs, two ballasts and external wiring harness with fuses and relays.

After the installation I use the following procedure to re-aim my new lights.
Headlight aiming procedure

After about a week of driving nobody has flashed me indicating I may be blinding oncoming traffic. I'll admit the beam pattern using the factory housing is less then perfect, however the light output is far better then stock.

Here are a couple of pics during testing. I have a couple more pics of ballast mounting location if anybody is interested.

I was only able to find the vertical adjustment which is located on top of the headlight housing right next to the grill. I looked for a horizontal adjustment but didn't see any, I believe it may be fixed.

Thanks! Vertical is what I need - they are simply focused too low and I forget about it between night time drives because I don't drive the truck often at night. I will look for the adjustment when I get home from work. I have been driving my car to work because it gets 25 mpg.

That's what I was reading but this is the first time that I seen someone say something about it. Is it really worth doing if you can't change your lights from high or low? Just curious.

I never really use my high beams, so loosing them isn't a big deal for me. Also you could argue with the extra light HIDs put out high beam are required any more, but that just my opinion.

I due plan on replacing the high beams with four Hella Rally 4000 HID Off-road lights mounted on the light bar shown in the pictures.

Here are the picture of the ballast location. At the time I only had one installed, the other is located in the same location on the other side.

I heard from a member on the board who gave told me about this post, how can we setup a group buy on this forum for you guys? Is there interest for the HID kit conversion for your trucks? All new Fords have the 9008/H13 bulb size and we were the first to have them here in the U.S. please let me know what I can do to start a group buy for your guys.

One of the thing that I REALLY don't like about this kit is how the wiring harness is connected to the factory light plug. Sticking the black and white wires in to the factory plug works fine, however it is far from a secure, reliable, water tight connection it should be. The kit would be much more attractive if a factory style connector was used. Sure then it wouldn't be a "one kit fits all 9008/H13 equipped vehicles", but if it was between this kit and a competitor whom had a factory style connector which made their kit a true "plug and play". I would have gone with the competitor even if it meant spending more money.

what "competitor are you talking about? Also, no kit is 100% water resistant, yes it can take water, but leave it there long enough and the ballast along with the rest of the kit will fail. Now again, what "competitors are you talking about? All kits have that setup, its the fundamental step to the installation.

First off, I was speaking hypothetically about the competitors. I’m not trying to knock your kit and say somebody else’s kit is better. If that was the case I wouldn’t have purchased your kit to begin with.

Second I realize no kit is 100% water resistant, but I wasn't talking about the entire kit. Only the connection made between the supplied wiring harness from the kit to the factory bulb connector. The point I was trying to get across is that you could one-up the competition by providing an OEM style connection from your wiring harness to the factory bulb harness.
For example instead of having bare ended wires to stick into the factory bulb harness. You could terminate those wires in a modified 9008 bulb housing turning installation into a hassle free plug-and-play.

I'll post a picture of the connection I'm speaking of later so that those reading this whom haven't seen or installed the kit can get a better idea of what I'm talking about.</O

Here is a picture of how the supplied wiring harness connects to the factory bulb socket, unless you cut the factory connector off. However for most people that really isn't an option. As you can see the wires are fairly close to each other and are in danger of shorting out it not protected. This is why I added the heat shrink tubing which does not come with the kit.

In my previous posts, this is the connection I have been talking about, which I believe could be made much better. Of course I could just wrap the whole thing in electrical tape and be done with. In my humble opinion that is tacky and unprofessional

This picture just shows how/where the rest of the wiring harness connections were made:

Thanks KurtNJr, Just trying to help.

...

Ok, I'm new to FTE so maybe one of you can help me here.

I've noticed that all the pictures I've posted have gone from visible pictures to links, but I didn't change them. What gives? Also the Posting Rules at the bottom of the page say you can edit your posts, but where is the edit button?

Does anybody know what happened to *********'s posts?

Thanks in advance.
