I have the same complaint with my 05 and have asked smart guys off line how to adjust them and haven't gotten a reply yet. It seems mine are just set too low - especially on high beam. Matt or Tim haven't answered my e-mail or called so maybe we can get the answer via this post? My dealer said to bring it in and they would fix it but it is too far if I can do it myself. Kurt
Sorry to say but it is a function of the design of the reflector. If you notice carefully, the headlight is putting forth a substantial amount of light; it's just going all over the place and not focused on your driving area. I placed the Silverstar bulbs in mine but it only helped a very little. I subsequently had to go to auxillary driving lights to get adequate lighting.
I have noticed that they are very week compaired to my 99 SD. I have looked at them and I think it's just a bad design. I don't see a way to fix/adjust the beam so I guess I'll just put a set of driving lights on it. I'm looking for a brush guard anyway so I guess I should just mount some lights on it?

I got your message Kurt, I'm sorry I haven't replied yet.
To be honest, I haven't ever messed with the headlight beams. I do believe there are adjustment screws on the back of the headlight assys; I would imagine that is how it would be done. When I get home I'll consult the shop manuals and find out for sure how it is done.
why even try it, let the dealer adjust them under warranty. had a guy last week that broke something trying to adjust his on his own, then was ticked when he had to pay because it should have been under warranty.
please ! before you mod those head lamps make sure the electrical system can handle the extra draw on the wireing. if you burn some thing out from a over load it's your pocket not fords on the repair.
just take a few min.s more and be sure it can be done safely. at work i see it way to much and it's always found to be a bulb with more draw then the wires can handle
I rewired my headlights with 12ga. wire running off relays from the battery. I also set them up so the low beams and fog lights stay on when the high beams are on. I use the stock wattage bulbs, and its like daytime. I would avoid the higher watt "blue HID look" bulbs. The stock wiring can't handle the extra current (amperage) draw and they'll melt down on you. Aux. lights are the easiest solution, but buy quality lights.

Has anyone tried 9005 bulbs (65 W vs. 42, I think) in their fog lamps. My buddy did this in his excursion months ago and it really fills in the area close to the front of the truck. it does nothing to extend the range, though. it hasn't bothered his wiring.
