Mag Hytec upgrade

Just wondering if anyone has upgraded their rear differential cover to a
Mag Hytec on here. I am thinking about going this route but it's a bit pricey.
Best I can find is $235 plus it ups the rear gear oil from 4.1 quarts to 8.
And at $14.95 per for 8 of them. This upgrade will be a bit costly. Another question I have is if anyone did the upgrade, does the new differential clear the tie rod?

I bought all three products from them, front diff, rear diff and 4R100 tranny pan

paid like $800+ with shipping

I installed them in about two hours
want to see some pics?
IM me
def worth the $$$ for added oil capacity, cooler oil and dam HD gauge aluminum cases
I bought just regular gear oil+ LS additive for the rear and Mobile 1 Atf for the tranny, spent like $45 for a 5 gallon bucket of gear oil, def had enough for front/rear diffs

99fatboy,

Check out the PML covers we stock, they are cast aircraft aluminum, increase the capacity and lower the oprating temps as well as any pan/cover on the market. PML did some research and discovered that if you add too much extra capacity you do not get any extra cooling effect, ie too much extra fluid is actually a negative. Especially after the tow up a long grade when the fluid temps rise, then it takes many more passes thru the cooler(s) to get the average fluid temp back down to normal flat ground operating temps. They also discovered that powder coating the covers will really hurt the heat dissapation ability of the aluminum. They will powder coat theirs for you but reccomend against it as it is one of the best insulators out there. The PML covers/pans are clear anodizd which is verrrrry thin but preserves the apperarnce without affecting the thermal ability to throw heat out of the fluid fast as possible. You cna get a PML diff cover for 159.99 and save a lot of money on the pan, the fluid ans still get the same fluid temperature reduction. Call us if you have any questions etc.

I will check out the PML covers Mark. Thanks for the info toyota hauler. You have a PM.

FYI, Gear oil for my F350 with the Mag Hytec rear diff is 17 bucks per and needs 8 quarts. 140 bucks just for oil. Ouch.

I bought my gear oil from a FARM n Fleet in the country area near me, it was called Majestic, I paid $46.00 for a 5 gallon bucket, my fabricator guy really likes it and says it is better than spending mucho bucks on Mobile 1 gear oil because of how much is needed.
I run Mobile 1 in my 1998 Toyota Tacoma because it only requires a few quarts per front diff, rear diff and transfer case.
