I have a '99 F350 SW 4x4 Diesel, Automatic W/ 159000 mi. and last week I lost my passing gear, the truck will gain speed at a gradual pace but if I get into it the motor rev's but no speed. It goes through the gears fine and my OD work's. I can get the truck going up to 70 but if I hit a hill it slow's to about 60 even in Cruise. Any suggestion's as to why this is happening.
welcome to FTE, the best ford truck site on the web.please take some time and read our guide lines and each areas read firsts.
as to your trans problem sounds more like the tranie is failing
I have done some more checking on my truck and reved it sitting in the parking lot and it rev's fine to about 1800 rpm's and then it sound's like it is just blowing air at 2000 rmp and higher, the motor to where it should blow some smoke.
haven't reved it long, just to see what it would do, That won't hurt it. the oil is fine the air filter is good, I have automotive expeiance rebuilding truck's and farm tractor's just not big on Diesel truck's. Think I would since we have 3 of them and 4 diesel tractor's.
