some of you may have followed my problem
for those who havent
brought my 05 f350 to lincoln -mercury dealer A - on mar21-05
for tranny recall 05b27b
I went to pick it up the next day and it had new vibration
to it
I called my buddy who worked in the svc. dept at this dealerA and
told him it has vibration-- he said make an appointment to bring it in
A few weeks later when I had time I scheduled an appointment to bring it
in to the dealer
they said they thought it was a minor problem and they would charge me
if I wanted it fixed-- they also hit the lift with my truck and ended up
replacing all 4 tires
they gave me no svc. slip for this visit-- so I dont have documented any thing for this-- I have requested a slip several times to no avail.
So a couple more weeks went by and the vibration is really pissing me off
now so I take it to Fleet pride-- they check it and tell me the shaft is bent must be replaced or retubed-- they wanted 400. something just to retube it
so I declined
So I take it to the Ford dealer B- I bought the truck from and explain the situation to the svc. manager-- he set up an appt. for 7-20-05
said they would bring it in on a vibration complaint and go from there
well dealer B calls today 7-21 and says the shaft is damaged we cant replace it under warrantee-- you have to go back to dealer A
so I lost 2 days for nothing here
so dealer B gave me a 800 # for ford
I called this number and logged a complaint -- they said there is nothing
that they(Ford) can do for me -- they said this is a "workmanship" issue
of an independently owned ford dealer -- they dont get involved-period.
little help or advice please
I have lost about 6 work days now from this stupid (simple in my mind) problem--I am self employed-- NO TRUCK=NO WORK
Iam about to lose my mind
what ford dealership isn't independently owned? Sounds like a cop-out. I would try the 800# again and try again. It still stands that your problem was not caused by you, but the dealership and should therefore be held responsible. Just take it as high as you need to. Just a thought, how long can you have a truck before you can "return" it? 1 month?
Go to a real drivetrain shop and get them to make you a new driveshaft. Here, they charge $120 for that. I also use my truck for work and no truck also = no work, that being said, I'd gladly eat 120 bones to get back to work. You can also take your $120 receipt back to dealer A and ask them to take care of it. They just might do it to avoid an ugly situation.
is the SD driveshaft aluminum or steel? i'm pretty sure the materials alone to replace the aluminum would be well over $120. Around my area, it costs ~$100 to get one balanced.
It's steel. $120 including balancing and tax is all they charge here in Dallas to build you a new driveshaft. They re-use your yokes and u-joints but the tube is new. That's what they quoted me to get rid of my 2-piece driveshaft and put in a single-piece one.
I was able to fix the vibration problems brought about by the lift kit. I added 1 3/4" worth of shims to the center carrier bearing and that completely eliminated any vibrations I had. I'd rather keep the 2-piece driveshaft since it is stronger than the 1-piece. I'm sending the awsome power and torque of the 2-valve 5.4L (All 350 lb/ft of it ) through three 1410 u-joints rather than just two.
after complaining to the ford 800 # and talking with the manager
at the lincoln mercury dealer-- its fixed
the dealer ordered and paid for the new driveshaft
I went down yesterday-- they threw it in
now the vibration is gone!
quite an oreal and a bunch of B\S
but I assume calling that 800 # and getting them involved
may help some times----Even though they did not make it sound like they were going to help they did call the dealership
