It's possible that the door hinges are off a little. Mine was out of allignment after I took it off. First it wouldn't latch at all, then it would latch and stick like yours. Also, check the little plastic sleeve that's on the strike that bolts to the cab. If it's too big, it'll stick. I would probably check the latch itself first. Use a screwdriver as a strike to close the latch and see how hard it is to open. If it works fine, check the other stuff.
most likely you hing pins are wore.. but the do could just be out of alignment... open the door, and grab the latch end, can you move it up and down?(the whole door that is) if so it's the hinges.. ford sells the pin/bushings for around 20$ canadian per door. if it's not that then something needs work.. maybe a good lubing, maybe some adjusting.
