ok i have a 92 f-150 with a glasspack on it with pipes goin out through the rear. a while back ago i was hauling a pretty good load of feed and i was out at out barn and hit a low spot in the drive and it smashed my pipes a little. ive lived with it for a while and here latly it has kind been gettin on my nevers. i was wonderin if it would sound as good if i just cut the pipes off right after the glasspack at the Y pipe? Or what are some othere suggestions on what to do?
wheather is sounds good or not is up to you but if you don't like the smashed pipes its just as well to get rid of them. Try it and if you don't like it just go get new tails.
do you not have ur cat? if u dont i bet ur truck is getting bad gas milage... i wouldnt drop my exaust that close to a tranny, it will add heat to your tranny as well as fumes usually make it into the cab
It would sound like a straight pipe if you busted the guts out of it. Just pull the muffler off if you want to hear the diff. Fordboy, he is talking about the Y where it splits from the muffler into 2 tail pipes not the headerpipe (Y pipe) at the engine.
at first it didnt sound so good then i modified my old smashed tips to where they wouldnt hit anything and just put those on after the glasspack to give it that echo again. it sound half decent right now but im still working on tryin to get it a littel better
i have a 3" cat back no muffler and love the sound. it really sounds good. a few people have commented on it that it is loud but it is a good sounding loud
