Representin' The 6.
No I haven't, I want to. Closest dyno appears to be in Findlay Ohio. I have no idea on my hp/tq numbers but I'm happy with it.
Even after today.
I pulled in low 2 and the truck just didn't have enough bottom end to turn the tires on the track we had today. I lost my first pull against a nice F250 that broke a driveshaft later.
The track was great, fresh, level and sticky. Also my first time pulling on a track that was that sticky so I learned a few things.
Second pull I dropped to low 1 and won against another F250 but the front end hopped badly. Badly enough I was concerned about breakage.
Third pull I pulled against my final 250 which was a beautiful truck with a heavily molested 390 that sounded very nice out of dual 4" stacks.
I went back to 2 low and decided to try the RPMs in the 3500 range for launch. I drug him forward initially and then the engine once again didn't have enough bottom end in 2 low and it almost died on me. I smelled clutch burning during this pull. Obviously 2 low on a sticky track is a bad idea. Lesson learned there.
Not a peep out of the locker all day.
I feel good about how things went, especially after witnessing a Dodge Cummins stall out running the same tire, BFG MTs.
I did get a lot of positive comments and the announcer called it "the little that could" after my second pull.
I need to do a SAS on the front 44 to a D60 but first I plan on finding a junkyard ZF-420 to swap out for the Mazda M5OD. I'd like to have the option of the granny on the ZF over the M5OD's first gear.
Quite a few people think the M5OD is a weak tranny but I've not had a single issue from any of the 1/2 ton driveline other than the clutch slippage today.
The pulls for the year are done now with the exception of grudge matches in somebody's field or backroads. I doubt I pull again this year and hope I have at least the ZF in before the first pull in May.
Thanks for listening to me babble about my truck and my 300 engine.
