Ok, I just bought a '68 F100 that has a 302 in it. Somebody put in a Duraspark Ignition box, but I'm having a problem finding a wiring diagram for it. Has the part number(D9DE-12A199-B2B). On all the Duraspark systems I've seen, there's always been 6 wires. Well on this thing there are only 5 wires:
orange
black(I think)
white
green
red
Didn't know whether it was Duraspark II or III or what?
According to my Haynes '80-95 manual, you have a duraspark III, but I can't find a specific diagram for it - not that it would help you anyway, my son took my scanner to college with him.
However I can tell you that the red wire goes to the ignition switch RUN position. White goes to the ign switch START position.
The green goes to the coil. The orange goes to the EEC system. The black wire goes to ground. Any help?
the duraspark II has 5 wires as well and a D9D part number would indicate a duraspark II. what is the color of the plastic strain relief where the wires enter the box? blue is prefered. if yours is blue then wiring is simple. here is a website showing how to convert and where the wires go: http://www.mustangsteve.com/conversion.html . i do not agree with the websites suggestion of cutting the brown wire off of the solenoid. when ford sells a conversion harness they tell you to hook the white wire to S terminal on the solenoid along with the red/blue wire instead of the I terminal and leave the brown wire intact. i have done this on all my cars and it works fine. hawkrod
It's got a blue grommet, I was just curious because it has no purple wire. In a minute here I'll go outside and check out the wiring job and figure out which wires go where and try to draw up a picture.
I have three DuraSpark II blue grommet modules sitting here, 2 aftermarket and one MotorCraft. ALL of them have 6 wires. All of my wiring diagrams show 6 wires also.
I checked out the wiring diagram briefly at mustang... That is not the correct wiring diagram. It does show 6 wires tho.
Thanks for using FTE!
