I'm thinking about buying a new edelbrock performer carb, and was just wondering what cfm to buy. I have a 76 4wd,390,at,edelbrock perf intake, and rv cam. I've heard that these carbs are fairly economical for a perf carb ie:gas milage,is this true?
I will take a stab at yer question. I will say 600-650cfm, Vac secondary. I have seen a formular for computing Carb size but can't recall it correctly. Do a search on Yahoo.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 25-Dec-02 AT 03:02 AM (EST)]How About Me? I have a 77 F-100 Coustom,Stock,Shortbox. With a small block V-8? What CFM Would everyone recomend??
Performance wise, a manual Edelbrock carb of the same CFM is a little better than electric choke - bigger jets and springs. If this is for a daily driver, you will definately prefer the electric choke version - much easier to start from my experiences. Besides, you can upgrade jets and springs at any time if you prefer, but I don't think you'd want to after bolting one on - unless over 400 HP or so. Bigger is not always better concerning carbs.
