Howdy All,
Knowing how friendly and helpful this board has been over the last three years I've got a poser on my 'other' rig a '78 Jeep CJ5.
I'm trying to remove the Wiper control **** from the shaft but this things got the might of Zeus hangin' it on!
There's no set screw
There's no tab to push down
There's no threads
There's no press button like on a light switch
The shaft is so thin there's not room for a longitudial screw on the end
I've tried tugging on it but it won't budge! I'm fearful of breaking the switch if I pull too hard. Any ideas?
p.s. Yes I still own my venerable Black Panel Ford Van
What I would do is go to your parts store and look at a replacement switch and see how it would be installed. If you can see how the switch is put together then you'd know how to take it apart. Or look for pics on the internet as to how to install/remove the switch.
Well Whiskey There's no press button like on a light switch
...and E-150 (that's what I got) NAPA no longer stocks it. nor does anyone else in this consumer desert I live in. Thanks for yer responses though
Well, it turns out the d@mn **** was glued on so I had to crush it with vise grips and install a new ****. The zeezo that had this rig before me seemed to think that overdoing this was the way to go. I also found that he had spot welded the inner wheel bearing to the friggin' axles!
