Is there a special tool for removing the **** from the light switch??? I've tried every small tool I can find and still cannot get the **** off the light switch from my 88 F150 parts truck....The wiper **** came right off...Am beginning to wonder if some idiot glued the thing on.....Even looked from behind with my mirror and I swear I don't see the spring clip like is on the wiper ****.....
On the 88 the **** doesn't come off of the shaft, the shaft comes out of the switch. With the switch in the full on position feel on the side of the switch opposite the wires and you will find a release button. Push it in and pull the **** and shaft out.
The **** comes off the shaft on my 88. My old one was glued on, and I had to basically break it off, and had to replace the headlight switch (only like 10 bucks). But yeah, there is also a button you can push and slide the whole shaft right out. I tried and tried to get mine out, then I just broke down and grabbed a pliers and wiggled it around until it came off.
Yeah, on my F250 it had the little spring thing you press in and pull the **** off...I also had to replace the headlight switch on my F250 now my lights work as they should....I may have to just break this **** off so I can get the switches out of the truck, need to sell as much as I can off that parts truck....
Rotate the **** until you can get a good look the notch.
Use a hook tool or small flat blade screw driver and lift the metal tang up away from the shaft. At the same time pull the **** off of the shaft.
