If you want a cheaper alternative to a detroit look into getting a Power trax lock Right, its not going to be as strong as a ful carrier replacement such as the detroit, but the lower cost (2-300 bucks) and the fact you don't need any specaility tools to install them and the average backyard mechanic can do one from one hour for c-clip axles to 2.5hrs for full float axle makes it even better. I just got mine in for my rear 10.25" rear and there are just a handful of parts and the are all fairly beefy too.

Most 4x4 duallies are not that good either because the front tires most of the time don't have the traction to pull the rear tires out of the hole they dug.

I looked into the lunch box lockers they seem good in print I may eventually buy one because they are cheaper and I can install it or I can get the local diesel shop to-do it. A Detroit locker for the Dana 80 in my truck will run me around 1100 dollars I think the Lockrite is around 600 dollars. The only time I need extra traction is when the truck is empty with no load on it. When I have a load on the truck it will sink before the wheels spin.

I'am not offroading with my truck its the residential driveways here are long dirt ones that can be steep and slippery.

yeah 600 is about right for the lockright for the 80, but the install is pretty simple even if you do have to take the carrier out, been going through the installation guide i got with mine and they are a pretty simple piece of equipment that for the guys not running insane power and big tires is propbably the best way to go.

Sorry, haven't been on here lately.

I like it. It's in the front D44, and so far it has held up great. But like any locker in the front, it makes the steering hard. It would be really nice to have a selectable, but for the price, I would do it again.

I saw one for $230 is that about what you paid for yours? Also just wondering if you installed it yourself. I was looking into a lock rite, and saw that, it's a little cheaper and has less parts to wear out, looks good to me. Thanks for the info so far.

The aussie has less parts, no? It's almost exactly the same thing, and both are proven. So just depends on which you want.

Well that's what they claimed, but I personally don't know. I'll see how easy I could get a Aussie locker or not, but either sound good anough for me.

Thanks for all the info.
