Rpm Intake Plug

as many of you know i have got the performer rpm intake for my 390. I have got it figured out (i think) I have got everything bolted up to it for the most part but i have a threaded hole on the top (i think it is for the ERG EGR which ever it is.) of the intake chanels for the 5th intake port.

What can i use to plug this hole?

I know the one closest to the thermostat is for the elbow for the heater hose but then the other one is the one i am questioning.

Thanks
-Brandon-

I made a quick look and then had to make a quick run to work (got to love those call outs) I will go back and check.

I did blow air into the top of the intake and could feel it coming out of the whole but i will go and double check

Yeah, that's the vaccum port, usually theres a tree that goes in there to provide vacuum to things like power brakes and the vacuum connection on an auto transmission. Just to the front (towards water pump) of that is the temp gauge port and to the left of that is the port for the heater hose. Looks in my gallery for a pic. you can see a brass fitting in the temp. gauge port.

well do i need to plug this or what?

My old stock intake did not have anything like that. OR at least i did not see anything but i may have missed it under all the grease.

I also took out my old elbow for my heater hose and that thing looks bad. Really rusted and the bottom of it is coming apart. I am going to replace it but where should i start to look for one?

I got the location for the temp sending unit. Just not the other whole.

If you don't have any vacuum accessories, I guess you could plug it. You sure don't want to run with it open. it's straight vacuum into the cylinder. You could suck up all kinds of dangerous stuff.

thats what i was thinking. Now would it be a bad idea to use like a non hardening silicone to put on thread to keep it from leaking or like permatex thread selant?

You probably don't need any sealer if you get a threaded plug that fits good. Otherwise, any of the basic sealers (black RTV etc) should work. Maybe even some teflon pipe tape. I can't belive your stock intake didn't have something. Do you still have it? Maybe it has a plug.

take the old one to the autoparts store, you might not find an exact replacement but they should have something that works, it should be standard pipe thread
