I hope for alligator hunting we don't use a fishing pole.......and I might just take you up on a boat trip.....someday, thanks for the offer!
Sounds very cool, I am one of the few folks in the world that has never caught a fish.
We just deblt with this same problem this weekend, after many hours of blaming he truck we hooked the truck up to another trailer and it was fine. All of the wiring on the trailer looked to be fine, it turned out to be a magnet on one of the brakes of the trailer and it was screwing up the whole system. We cut one wheel at a time and after the third wheel the controller stopped acting up. So I would check absolutely everything on the trailer before you blame the truck.
Some of you guys seem to be pretty handy and probably use your trailers a lot. When the Ford Integrated Trailer Brake Controller came out ford recommended that we (techs) use an emulator to aid in the diagnostics. So I share this with you. I picked-up a nice tester that you guys will LOVE! This is a Tekonsha product that costs around $35. I recommend it personally! Here's the deal:
The Tekonsha 7-Way Trailer Emulator Model Number 6560, is a testing device designed to assist in determining whether a tow vehicle's trailer connector has been wired properly. This unit is also an excellent diagnostic tool for diagnosis of electric trailer brake controllers. Uses a built-in load module that will simulate electric magnet brakes on a trailer, allowing simulated connection with a trailer. The emulator will also check electrical continuity of all other circuits in the 7-Way blade style connector (turn signals, brake lights, etc). ASSISTS WITH DIAGNOSIS OF SUPERDUTY INTEGRATED TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER.
I think I got a wiring issue with the truck. The ABS light comes on and off just like the trailer disconnect . I gotta make time and take her in. I was puting it off as long as I could but its driving me nuts when I'm pulling my trailer.
Tim, we do use a fishing pole to catch the gators, first you snag them with a really big trebble hook, then fight them like a blue marlin until you get them close enough to harpoon, then you cam control them well enough to get them to the side of the boat and shoot them with a "bang stick". When you are REALLY REALLY sure he's dead, you put him in the boat. A real Red neck thrill! Thanks for the tips guys, I'm off to find the Tekonsha tester.
