Dana 60?

I have heard that ford started using the dana 60 front in the super duty starting in 2002. Does anyone know if this is true?

Im pretty sure all the F350 starting in 1979 had dana 60's in the front.

When you say super duty do you mean F250 or F350?

Im not sure but the F250 SD would have the Dana 50 Solid Axle.

And the F350's would have the Dana 60 Solid Axle.

Yes, I am refering to f250 and f350. I thought all of the newer stuff came with a dana 50, f250 or f350. Maybe I'm wrong. I am looking for a dana 60 front for my bronco. Just wonderin if I should waste my time looking in the newer trucks.

I belive the 05 model SD f250 and f350, now come with D60s.

But good luck finding one already in a junk yard.

Some one correct me if I am wrong, but I was under the impression that all superduty (99+) front axles have either a different spring perch spacing, or a different tube length than pre-superduty axles. That is the reason that most people opt for a pre 1999 donor axle. Also as MBBFord said, there will be very few in the scrap-yards yet.

Ford put dana 60 front axles before 79. The 78/79 and on were high pinions, pre 78 were low pinions with small shafts and knuckles.

I really belive that is all right. If you go with a D60 from a early model truck, make sure you get a high pinion, they are much better than the low pinions, for several different reasons. The kingpin knuckles are much better than what was in the low pinions.

the 99-01 super duty had a dana 50 front diff unless it was a factory f350 WITH dual rear wheels. as of 02 all f350 came equipped with dana 60 front diffs.
