If you run a HV pump and need the extra capacity, it works great.
Adding too much to a stock pan might end up having the bottom of crank throws splashing thru it. NOT good.
It fits most any of our body styles. It's the same basic depth as a stock pan, but it's just a long box going all the way to the rear of pan. Baffles are a needed addition to help control slosh. When these are in a big truck you don't get the acceleration you do in a hot rod.
You might find one here, or maybe on Ebay. $50 usually gets you one with a pump pickup.
That is a subject that has worn the letters off more keyboards here than you can shake a stick at........LOL!!!
If you don't plan on turning it 6500 rpm for hours on end...you'll probably never see a difference or need to add oil. It's basically overkill..........but alot of us have done it because we could.
ok cool nothing to worry about for me then. 6500 RPMs i dont plan on turning it up that high. ........ maybe every so often just to hear it roar . but not much.
but then again it only takes once to drop everything in the oil pan ... LOL..
The FT pan holds 9qts. With a PH8A (or equiv.) filter dump in 8qts.& the FT dipstick will read about 1-1/2qts. low after you fire it up and get the filter full. This is good because you have 8qts. of oil and the oil level is down below the crankshaft.
A winadge tray might be an appropriate addition with the FT pan. That's what I'm running.
For me, it was something I could do pretty affordably, as compared to the motor, so it was cheap insurance. I thought it would help at the track, when the oil likes to slosh to the back (FT has a rear pickup) and the High Volume pump is really kicking in at 5000+ rpm.
