I believe so. The 2wd trucks have the front sump and the 4x4s have the rear sump/pickup.
There are few if any high capacity aftermarket pans that fit the 2wds. I've gone to the FT oil pan from the bigger F Series of that generation. It holds about 10 quarts and has a rear pickup that's good for 1/4 mile romps.
Too bad you need it right now because I'm running a tired old 360 that's not worth anything in my '71 4x4 until I can save for a 460 build. I think the oil pan is probably the only thing worth a darn on that motor. The rest is junk.
EDITed :
Oh, and when you get the 4x4 pan, don't forget you need a rear sump pick up for it and the bracket that attaches to one of the main caps. A junk yard may be your best bet.
When are you doing the 460? I am expecting my engine to be ready in the next 2 - 3 days. You woulnt happen to know where I can get one would you?I have been to all the local wrecking yards...and nothing.
