In converting my truck to 3/4 ton suspention ('82 F-150 4x4) i have a dana 60 full floating that I got. I have since gotten a limited-slip 4:10 ratio carrier to match the front ttb setup i purchased. I've cleaned the carrier and replaced the clutch packs I have been told it is a power-lock type ls as apposed to the traction-lock. my question is which is the better type of ls or what are the benifits of either type.
My '83 F250, with 99,000 miles on it, has the original Trak-Lock in its Dana 61 FF rear end and it still works great! I know, because the truck leaves two perfect black lines on the ground when I get on it.
I was fortunate that the two previous owners of this truck changed the trans and diff fluids every 30,000 miles, and used the proper limited-slip additive.
I think that maintenance is the biggest factor in limited-slip differential longevity.
